Sir, —I noticed an article m your paper, on January 16 headed "Man Power," in which Mr. A. Leigh Hunt is reported to havo said that certain industries did not know yet. whether they were to bo classed as essential industries. Now, sir, what industries in New Zealand are more important than the agricultural and pastoral industries? Yot at least ono Military , Board has dismissed appeals of men carrying on these two industries,' thereby, as Captain Walker would say, preventing them from lying on feather beds. I sm writing this to protest against any now policy, as suggested by Mr. Hunt, to interfere with the Military Boards, which were surely set up with a full sense of their duty to their country.—l am, etc..
