ROBBING THE WOUNDED
CONTEMPTIBLE FRAUDS ON MEN IN HOSPITAL. Wounded soldiers in one of the London military hospitals wens recently ' victimised by tricksters in. uniform, states tho "Daily Mail." A month ago a very polite little boy -with curly hair, wearing the uniform of a Boy Scout, visited one of the wards, and was entrusted with' small sums by various soldiers, amounting in all to 18s., to buy stamps, cigarettes, and other small things' for them. Tbo boy did/not return. . A man with a cast in one eye, with * the namo of a regiment that has seen, considerable active service on his khaki uniform, was allowed in, ostensibly to visit a patient, whose- name ho gave. Hβ distributed cigarettes_ among ' the men, and after conversation about regimental cap badges several of the men handed him small sums totalling, . it is stated, 1 £3, to replace badges they had lost. He promised to return in an hour, but has not been seen again. Precautions liavo since been taken toi prevent further such frauds at this •hospital, but the men victimised are anxious that other hospitals also should bo on their guard.
