The demand for iron and steel goods, wire, nails, rails, and similar articles, was particularly heavy, and New Zealand firms were constantly recoiving advice that ivar orders made it impossible to forward supplies. Mr. Beddoe also mentioned the difficulty of obtaining any kind oT aircraft. An order was Tecently sent for an aeroplane for an aviation school in Die South Island, hut by return mail came the reply Mint the Curtis factory had been taken over by the British CTorernment, and no.'further orders could he filled. /
