9 '■ The Boy Scout camp, which, has been in progress for the last fortnieht at Solway, Masterton, lifted on Wednesday, after a visit had been paid to the Featherston camp. The Masterton County Council has resolved to take steps to raise a loan of £1100 for the purpose of .improving tho water supply of Lansdowne, an important suburb of Masterton. The Wellington Military Appeal Board decided on Tuesday at its sitting at Masterton that sons of naturalised Syrians are liable for service abroad, even though they be born outside the Dominion. The drought experienced in the Wairarapa, which has occasioned some anxiety to settlers, has been effectively oroken, heavy rain having fallen on Monday nnd Tuesday.
