24th REINFORCEMENTS
MOBILISATION PROCEEDING. • Tlie Auckland draft of the Twentyfourth Reinforcements reached the training camps yesterday, in addition to some supplementary drafts from the Wellington district. The mobilisation, which covers both volunteers and balloted men, is proceeding on tho usual lines, but "figures relating to the strength of the drafts will nol'Be available for some days yet. Defence Headquarters states that balloted men who have disregarded the orders given them -will receive attention directly the mobilisation of tho Twenty-fourth and Twenty-fifth Reinforcements is complete. Some or the reservists drawn by ballot have failed to present themselves for medical examination ; others are disobeying the mobilisation call. Balloted men are being allowed some latitude in the initial stages of the new system, but the Military Service Act is to be enforced firmly. Defaulters will bo brought to book. _ Voluntary recruiting for tho Twentysixth Reinforcements will close tomorrow, and _ the ballot required to provide recruits for the completion of the draft will bo taken during next weok. Probably- not fewer than 3000 names will have to bo drawn. In the meantime the medical examination of the reservists drawn in the second ballot is proceeding, and preliminary reports indicate that the percentage of fit men is proving reasonably high.
