The Hon. J. Allen, Acting-Pcgimer and Defence Minister, visited Nelson to take part in the farewell to the quota of the Twenty-fourth. Reinforcements, raised. voluntarily. The men. were addressed by Sir. Allen, who congratulated them on their patriotism. There would, he said, be no need for enforcing th© ballot anywhere if all the districts did as Nelson, and Auck land had done. The Minister delivered a recruiting Gpeech at Motueka last night. The Twenty-fifth quota is also full, and the Twenty-sixth is thirty men short.
