SALE OF SHORTHORNS
At the autumn sale of shorthorn cattle at Darlington (Bug.), Mr. C. H, Jolilfo, of Now bus Grange, sold ten young bulls for an average of £176 Is. Bd. The Conqueror, a red roan, realised 520 guineas. A red, Prince Eufus, of the Prince of tho Blood strain, made 340 guineas. Thirty-two 3'oung bulls disposed of at this salo made an average of £75 14s. 7d. The following day, at the same place, a bull calf, Gainford Ringlcdaer, bred by Mr. G. Harrison, was sold to Mr. M. Marshall for tho Argentine, at 1100 guineas. His sire is Collyine Mandarin, and the young bull is described as being of .extraordinary substance for his age, combined with breeding. A heifer.calf, Gainford Laurel 2nd, of the Pye tribe, by Collynio Mandarin, went to the same buyer for 200 guineas. At thesamo sale a shorthorn cow, Fairlawne Lady Dorothy, reached 200 guineas, and Mr. \X. Duthie took Gainford Rosemary, by Proud Broadhooks, at i 400 guineas. Thirty-four head averaged £151 16s. sd.
