The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that at their Levin sale on Tuesday they offored a, small entry of sheep, and a good entry of cattle, which met "with a good demand at late rates. They quote:—Liglit prime fat owes, 329. Id.; fat cows, .-£lO, £10 155., £11 135., £12. £12 125., to £13 95.; two-year Jersey steers, £9 155.; others, to £10 135.; small yearling steers, £5 lis.; guaranteed dairy cows in mill;, £11 2s. 6d. to £13; springing Holstein heifer, £16*; store pigs, 18s. 6ti. to 295. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their weekly salo in the Levin yards, on December 12. when they offered a fair yarding of both sheep aud.cattle. Fat 9heep were in pood demand,' and inquiry for stores was fair. No bullock beef was penned, but cow and heifer beef boM readily. Competition for cattle was inclined to drag under the hammer, but the firm succeeded in disposing of the bulk of their cntTies before the finish of the sale. Quotations:—Sheep: Fat shorn wethers, 335.; fat'shorn ewes, 325., Bd.; forward shorn ewes and 1 wethers. 285.; ewes and lambs (poor), 395. ADDINGTON MARKET. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, December 13. There were largo entries of almost all clas&es of stock at Addington to-day. The store sheep were mostly shorn wethers and ewes, and the demand, like last week, was easier, and prices showed no improvement. Fat cattle were somewhat irregular, but on the whole about equal to last week's rates. Prime fat lambs maintained their values, but unfinished sorts were easier. The lambs were not as good as the week before, and are showing the effects' of the continued dry weather. Fat sheep sold somewhat irregularly, but were in strong demand for export. Store cattle further advanced in price. Fat pigs were easier, and stores firmer. Store sheep: Two-tooth ewes, 255. to 325.; two and four-tooth ewes, 303.; four and sistooth ewes, 255. to 265.; two and fourtooth ewes and lambs, all counted, 17s. 4d. to 235.; failing-mouthed ewes and lambs, all counted, 19s. 9d.; two-tooth wethers, 20s. 4d. to 275. 3d.; four • and sis-tooth wethers, 235. 2d. to 325. BUItX-SIDE MARKET. Dunedin, December 13. At Burnside to-day 158 cattle were yarded. The quality was fair, and prices were a shade firmer. Extra prime bullocks, '£22 55.; prime, £18 to-£2O; medium, £15 to £16; inferior. £13 to £14; best cows and heifers. £12 10s. to £13 10s.; extra, £17; medium, £10 10?. to £12; inferior, £9 to £10. Fat sheep (1693 penned): Competition was good, and prices firm.
