MORE "PUNCH" URGED IN WAR MATTERS

A MARTON RESOLUTION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Marton, December 13. The Marton Borough Council passed the following resolution unanimously: "That this council is of opinion that the present war should be prosecuted by the Allies with increasing and continuous energy. It is the serious, imperative duty, of every British citizen to personally assist in that behalf, and, in order (a) to support the British Empire and the Allies to carry out our pledges to the Mother Country, (b) to support New Zealand soldiers now fighting for us, (c) to ensure that the sufferings and blood of those who have already fought, and that ouf own past efforts and_ sacrifices, may not have been in_ vain, this council urges upon the National Government the necessity for carrying out the various war- Acts and regulations now in forco with firmness and determination, and direct all those whose special duty it is to administer such acts and _ regulation's to perform their duty in a similar manner. That this council also urges upon the National Government's earnest consideration whether the timo has now arrived to organise the civil population of New Zealand, so that 'the whole energies of the people, both individually and collectively, may be directed specially to bringing the war to a speedier and decisive victory."
