COUNT!' COUNCIL MEETING.
The /monthly meeting of the Hutt County Council was held yesterday mornning, Councillor J. AVakelinrn presiding, and there wero also present Councillors W. Howell, M. AV. AVelch.-J. AVhiteman T. Edwards,-and W. Gallowav. '
The overdraft at bank was reported to be .EG (90 19s. B<l.
Tn connection with tho Day's Bay water and drainage scheme, Councillor AVelch reported that the difficulty in the matter was to get pipes- to carry out the work, and at the present time the matter was in abeyance until the Wellington City Council got further information.
The Board of -Agriculture wrote n?king what the council considered were the six worst noxious weeds in the county. It was decided that the three worst were blackberry, sweet briar, aud tutson, which were specially bad, and three others were pennyroyal, broom, andgor.se. The council were unaWe to determine which was the best method for destroying the weeds.
Tho report of Mr. J. W. Cndby. Inspector of Works, stated that the HuttAVoikaiui" truck on the Mangm-oa side was partly blocked , by landslides, and numerous small slips on the northern side of the summit had been removed. A small fifteen foot span bridge in AVhitoman's A : alley had collapsed with a motor lorry on Saturday last. Owing tn the skilful handling of the lorry by the driver no damage had resulted to the lorry, and all necessary arrangements had been made for timber, and the bridge had been rennired. The engine and plant: were working in Epuni, mtrl a considerable amount of grading had been done.
A complaint from Mr. AV. A. Beavis in connection with wandering 6htt»p nt Akatarawa Road was referred to tho ranger for early attention. Tt was decided that the January mooting of the council ho held on Jamiarv 11.
