♦ . SAD BATHINC FATALITY. THREE MAORI GIRLS DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, December 7. A. drowning accident occurred! at Te Arai yesterday afternoon, when three Maori girls lost their lives. The children were pupils of Te Arai School, and were named Rera Johnston (12 years old), Horiana Turangi (9 years), and Pairua (8 years and a half). They went to the river to bathe, and were accompanied by three other girls. No definite story iB told by the three surviving girls as to how the tragedy occurred, but it as surmised the children got into difficulties in deep water. Upon .the alarm being given several adults .went to their assistance, but the unfortunate girls had disappeared. They were all used to swimming. A search' was immediately instituted, but so far only one body has been recovered. MAN KILLED AT FEATHERSTON OAMP. Carterton, December 7. A young man named George Thco. Foote was lolled at Featherston Camp yesterday by the oxplosion . of a soda cylinder. He was engaged in charging a syphon in a shop near the camp when tho explosion took place, killing him instantly. His assistant, a youth named H. Brannigan, was very seriously injured, and was taken to the Military Hospital. Foote was a married man, aged 25. He leaves a widow and family of two children, the oldest being 2 years old.

' A DROVER'S DEATH. Dunedln, December 7. Tho body of John M'Glor, drover, a single man, aged 49 years, was found iu a two-roomed cottage at Balclutha to-day. Some time ago ho fell from hia horse, and latterly had suffered from a growth on tho tongue, for which he underwent an operation. Deceased was sitting in a cnair, and his head was almost blown off. A gun was lying on tho floor.
