A campaign committee, comprising Messrs, Perry, Ford,. ■Talbot, Porrest, Lippitt, aiid Von Haast, was appointed to vigorously push (lie interests of the company, and to issuo a special appeal to men. of tho I'irst and Second Division, and point out the necessity of military training, as tho time may come when- even the Second Division may be-required'to serve the Empire. It was decided to make the weekly drill nights more attractive and interesting with a periodical series of lectures on infantry, musketry, and ambulance work, these lectures to be open to the general public. It was jalso decided to erect a roll of honour to members of the South Wellington National Deserve who had enlisted, and placed in a predominant place. Some little tune ago an appeal was made by the Wellington South Women's National E&serve for a portable stall, to be used for patriotic purposes, and the outcome was that the stall lias been voluntarily designed, made,- and painted by several energetic residents of Wellington South, and will be presented to those enthusiastic ladies in the course of a few days.' During the evening Captain Haase, on behalf of the. members of Wellington South, asked Captain Jimuier to accept a case of pipes for himself,, and an entree dish, suitably inscribed, for Mrs. ltenuer, as a slight token of appreciation and esteem, in which he is held by the whole company. Several members, including ex-O.C. Major Firth, eulogised Captain. Kennor's qualities and the keen spirit lie lias always shown as honorary instructor and lecturer. The company will close down during the holidays,' and will recommence on 'January 30. The committee meets next week to discuss tho recruiting campaign and other important work in connection with the National Eeserve.
