ROUGH TRIP OP RAKANOA. The Union Company's cargo steamer Ralwuioa, which arrived at Dunedin on Monday afternoon from Melbourne and Bluff, came in for a rough handling by tho elements before reaching Bluff. She cleared Melbourne at 7 a.m. on November 24 with 2876 tons of cargo on board, and met with fine weather for tho first, tlireo days. The vessel then encountered a strong soutli-wcst gale, which raged for three days. A mountainous sea was running, and the ship was continuously awash fore and aft. The Baltanoa carried a part cargo of timber on deck consigned to Bluff, and a large quantity broke adrift through being pounded lathe seas, and washed overboard. A water pipe leading through ono of the holds was also smashed owing to the rough handling which tho vessel received, and a quantity of the cargo stored in tho hold was slightly damaged by water. The l!;ikanoa reached BluK at 7 p;m. on Friday tho trip thus occupying over seven days! She has discharged her cargo at Di'inodin, and after finishing at Lyttelton will go on to West Coast ports.

She arrived in the stream at Wellington shortly after noon yesterday, and berthed o.bout 3 p.m. at 10 south Queen's Wharf. Captain J. Some alterations in the Kahika's running have been made, nnd the Union Company advise that she -will not go to New Plymouth, but "will be dispatchcd to Greymouth to load coal for Wellington. The Rosamond will now take her place, and she is due here on Saturday or Monday, and will go to New Plymouth, taking cargo. FLORENCE LUCKENBACH LEAVES. A Press Association cablegram received yesterday afternoon reports that the American steamer Florence Luckenbach sailed from New York on Monday last for Wellington and other New Zealand ports, via Panama Canal. Sho -will arrive here about the middle of January. The Florence Luckenbach has already paid one visit to. this port, when she and the Edgar Luckenbach inaugurated the service a few months ago. Mr. J. L. Brown, assistant engineer ot the Nikau, has signed off. * The Orepuki is duo her. to-day from Lyttelton, and sails to-day for Nelson and Nydia Bay, missing the call at Terakohe. The Breeze left Onehunga at 5 o'clock yesterday morning, and- is due here tonight. She gets away at noon on Friday for- Lyttelton. The Corinna leaves New Plymouth about 9 p.m. to-day, and is due to-morrow. She •will get away to-morrow or Saturday for Dunedin, Oama.ru. and Timaru, taking Wellington cargo for thoee ports. The Kaitangata left Westport at Go'clock yesterday morning for Welling, ton, and is duo here to-day with a. full cargo of coal. The Tarawera is duo here from Lyttelton and Dunedin this morning, and has 340 tons of cargo to discharge. She leaves for Napier. Gisborne, and Auckland at 5 p.m. to-day, Tho ICakapo leaves here at noon tomorrow for Westport. The Defender is now due her-o to-day from Hokitika, and proceeds to Miramar to discharge a. full carro of timber. She , sails on Saturday for Karamca.
