SIR ERNEST SHACKLETON'S LECTURE
« Sir Ernest Shackleton has consented to give his services in aid of the Returned Soldiers' Club, and with this object iu view will deliver a lecturo in the Town Hall this evening, on his "Experiences in Antarctica," dealing with his recent adventures in tho AVeddell Sea. The lecture will bo illustrated with a number of very fino lantern views, which bring out the difference in character of the AVeddell Sea from the other side of Antarctica, and vividly describe tho life of the party on shore ; and the various stages of tho destruction of tho _ Enduranco. 'The screening of the views will bo under the supervision of Mr. A. AVbitelaw. The lecture is one of absorbing in-, terest, and tho explorer's story of his adventures and the strenuous lifo of himself and his comrades must appeal to all, and combined with the object in view should ensure a packed house. This will bo the only opportunity the public will have of hearing the celebrated explorer during his present visit to Wellington. The Patriotic Society's Band is kindly giving its services, and will play selections previous to the lecture. Application should be made early for seats, as a large number have been reserved. Tickets can be obtained from the Returned Soldiers' Club, from members of the committee, or from tho Bristol, where the box plan is now open. Doors will open at 7.15 p.m., and the lecturo will commence at 8 p.m.
