TRAMWAY CONCESSIONS

EXISTING FINANCIAL CONDITIONS AGAINST THEM. , At the'meeting of the City Council last evening the Tramways Committee reported that they had received a renewed request from the Wellington Soft Goods Employees' Union for workers' concession tickets to be extended to 9 a.m. The oommittee were of opinion that the existing financial oonditions are such that they cannot recommend the council to grant any further' concessions in fares at this juncture. They consider that it will be a matter for congratulation if the City can emerge from the war period : without an increase in fares. They recommended that the union be informed accordingly.
