THE EDUCATION OF GIRLS
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The report of the meeting of the Wellington Women Teachers' Association, as it appeared in last Wednesday's Dominion', is likely to create, in . the minds of those who are not closcly jn touch with the educational work, tho impression that I adversely 'criticised the report) of the Council of Education on the education of girls. I therefore ask to be allowed to explain the position. In order to prepare the way for discussion, I analysed the report in order to show the relationship between tlie various clauses and the objects to .be attained. With rogard to differentiation; about which there was likely to be a difference of opinion, I pointed out that it already existed, from Standard I upwards, ; hufc that there was not a word in ,the report to indicate any desire for separate schools in the primary department. Thanking you in anticipation,—l run, etc., PHOEBE MYERS, President Wellington Women Teachers' . Association. 26 Fitzhcrbert Terrace,. Wellington. November 25,1916.
