Samuel Thomas Seddon, 'Auckland Regiment. 2nd Lieut. JFranois Olive Upton, Canterbury Regiment. 2nd Lieut. Septimus James Closey, 3rd New Zealand Rifle Brigade. 2nd Lieut. Will aim Arthur Gray, 3rd •New Zealand Rifle Brigade-. 2nd Lieut. "Wilfred Gordon Harrison, New Zealand Rifle Brigade. 2nd Lieut. Jack Lister Braithwaite, New Zealand Engineers. Captain Donald l Gramme Orbell, New, Zealand Medical Corps. Rev. Clement Houchen, Church of England ohaplain. Distinguished Conduct Medals have been awarded to two Australians and four New Zealanders. Of seven Viotoria Crosses, the most notable oases are:— Lieut. Bradford, of the Durhams, who, as temporary lieutenant-colonel, assumed command 1 -of two battalions and saved the situation when the flank was endangered. Sergt. Downie, of the Dubhns, who, when most of the officers were shot down, shouted, "Come on, Dubs." His stirring appeal was immediately responded 1 to and the men rushed on. Downie captured a killing the crew. The Dublins/then captured positions which had withstood five previous attacks.
