ANOTHER BRUTAL CRIME
HOSPITAL SHIP BRAEMAR CASTLE SUNK
WOUNDED ON BOARD NO LIVES LOST Australian-New Zealand Oablo Association. London, November 24. The Admiralty reports: "The hospital ship Braemar Castle, homeward bound from Salonika to Malta with wounded, was blown up either by a mine or torpedo in the Mykoni Channel, in the Aegean Sea. All on board were saved." The "Daily Chronicle's" correspondent at Athens states that the Braemar Castle was torpedoed off Timos Island. The survivors were taken to Syr a by mine-sweepers and destroyers. [The Braemar Castle belongs to the Union Castle Line, of London, and was built in 1898. She was constructed by Barclay, Curie, and Co., at Glasgow, and her principal dimensions were: Length, 450 ft.; breadth, 52ft.; and depth, 22Jft. She was fitted with wireless, refrigerating machinery, and submarine signalling apparatus. Captain Hall was in command.] (United Service.) (Rec. November 26, 5.5 p.m.) j Athens, November 24. The newspaper "Patras" states that | the Braemar Castle was torpedoed' thirty miles west of the 6cene of the attack on the Britannio. The Allies' | aeroplanes saw two submarines between Mitylene and Zea. FOUR, HUNDRED . SICK MEN ON BOARD. (Rec. November 26, 11.15 p.m.) London, November 25. Four hundred British sick were on board the Braemar Castle, bound for Malta. The casualties numbered one drowned and ten injured.
