TOOTHBRUSH MOUSTACHE
Tho "toothbrush" moustache* was invented by our gallant Army as a legitimate although terriblo weapen to counter Hun f rightfulness. With that knowledge, tho wives and sweetharts of military wearers of "toothbrush" moustaches have endured this weird facial decoration in bravo and patriotic silence. But {fie "toothbrush" moustache is essentially a weapon of (rightfulness, to bo rotaincd, lot us hopo, only_ "Tor tho duration of tho war." Civilians have no more right to woar it than they have to carry handgrenades and gas-bombs. But just as in our grandfathers' thno civilians imitated the beards and other facial vegetation of tho Crimean veterans, so today civilians slightly over military ago aro swaggering about with •'toothbrush" moustaches. • Men who r.cra formerly clean-shaven aro growing them—and tho spectacle is ofton appalling. Mon who formerly bad walrus moustaches, spiked moustaches, weeping moustaches, and nondescript moastaches have pruned them down to tbo "toothbrush" pattern—a small shrubbery under each nostril, and the rost of tho upper lip shaven. —"Daily Hail,'-''
