Young, sccrctary of the Seamen's Union, advises that a special nicotine of the executive council of tho Federated Seamen's Union of Now Zealand will ho held in Wellington on November 25. The purpose of the meeting will be to receive tho report of the delegates who recently attended tho union conference in Australia, ©lore -will be representatives presont, from Auckland, Dunedin, and Wellington. and it will bo decided what course is to bo adopted by tho union with regard to tho roport of tho delegates.

HEMUEKA FROM LONDON. The Now Zealand Shippiug Company's passenger steamer liemuera arrived in Auckland from Loudon, via Panama, on Saturday evening, with 235_ passengers for I\'c-vr Zealand and Australian ports. Mr. Goulton, sccond oflicer of tho liemuera, Save tho following report on the voyage: -"Left London September 18 and arrived at Plymouth on the 19th. Sailed from there same day for Halifax. Tho weather crossing the Western Ocean was rough. Halifax was reached on 'September 29, and the vessel left the same day for Acwport Ji'ews, owing to a delay in supply of cool. The liemuera left there on Octobo sr, and arrived at Colon on October 11. After passing through the Canal on the next day, she left for Auckland direct. Ln route the vessel slowed down_ for a few minutes off Pitcairn Island. News of this isolated island was brought to Auckland but a few days ago by the C. and D. s Port Philip. Some of tho men put oft in whaleboats to the vessel, and all -was reported 'well' among those "ashore. Tne Bomucva. then came straight here, arriving at 10.15 p.m. on Saturday." Captain H. E. Oreenstreet is in command, and has associated with him tho following officers:—Chief officer, Mr. H. Wilde; sccond, Mr. F. J. Gaulton; third, air. W. Jones; fourth, Mr. If. E. P. RIVERINA LEAVES SYDNEY. Cable advice received last evening stated that the Riverina left Sydney at 11 o'clock yesterday morning, and has 210 passengers and 800 tons of cargo for Wellington* Sho is duo early on Saturday, ami an endeavour will bo made to dispatch her on •Saturday evening for Sydney direct. NORTHERLY GALE AND ROUGH SEAS. Coming up from Lyttelton, the Mararoa had a hard battlo with the elements during the latter stages of the journey. The ! weather "was fine for the first five or six hours out, and then she struck a hard' northerly gale, with increasing seas, till entering Cook fltrait. Here the full force of the storm was met. The vessel behaved splendidly, but pitched and tossed about a good deal. Oa one or two occasions big seas were shipped, and, generally speaking, things were unpleasant for those on board, tho women suffering most. The Mararba was a full ship, having on board many excursionists who "were returning from the Ghristchurch. races, and many of them will have cause to remember the final stages of their trip. Despite the weather experienced, tho Mararoa was only a little over an hour l<at© in berthing at tho Perry Wharf. The Himitangi also had a very rough trip up from Lyttelton, and although she loft that port <at noon on Monday did not arrive in port until 6.20 p.m. last evening. Tho gale seemed to increase during the day, and. late last night tho Kaiapoi, 2003 tons, which left here at 4.15 p.m. yestrrday, hod to put back into port. She will probably sail to-day for Westport. Tho Opawa was to have loft for Blenheim last night at 8 o'clock, but tho captain did not consider it advisable to put out, and she will leave to-day. A number of other boats -were also put off during tho day, and will mostly leavo to-day, weather permitting. WIMMERA DUE TO-MORROW. With 990 tons of cargo and 80 passengers for Wellington, the Wimmera, which left Melbourne at 12.45 p.m. last Saturday, is duo in port to-morrow, probably the morning. Sho also brings an Austin lian and English mail (via Suez). Tho Huddart-Parker Company advise that she will leavo on Saturday at noon for Melbourne, via southern ports.

HURUUUI AT AUCKLAND. Under charter to tho A. and A. Line, tile steamer Hurunui arrived in Auckland on Sunday afternoon from Kew York, via. Panama. The Hurunui had an uneventful trip from New York. Captain A. 13. Smith is in command, and he has associated with him tli« following officors:—First officer, Mr. 13. W. J. NurEoy; second officer, Mr. H. Gardner; third offlcer, Mr. J.. Gorriok; fourth officer, Mr. Davcy; first engineer, Mr. IV. W. Jcnkinson; second engineer, Mr. J. Jl'Lean; third engineer, Mr. E. W. Waters; fourth engineer. Mr. Brown; first refrigerating engineer, Mr. Clark; second rofrigerating engineer, Mr. Smith. The Hurunui is a steel twiu-scrcw steamer of 6901 tons, and -was built in 1912 by Russell and Co., of Glasgow, and her principal dimensions are: Length, 495 ft.; width, 63ft.: depth, 31ft. -J PORT HfTTELTON LEFT SYDNEY. Tho C. and D. Line advise that tho Port Lyttelton (ex Niwaru) left Sydney in continuation of her voyage at 5 p.m. on Monday, and is duo at Auckland on Satr Urdny. When sho will get to Wellington is not yet certain, and depends on the timo it takes to discharge at Auckland. She should, however, get here about November 20. It will bo remembered that tho Port Lyttelton was delayed in Sydney owing to trouble with her crew. ROSCOMMON AT LIVERPOOL. The F. and S. liner Roscommon, which left Bluff on September 9, according to cable advice, arrived at Liverpool on No- 1 vcmber 1. j ABOUT THE DANIEL. Mr. Wyiin Williams, late assistant purser of the Union Company's Iktkura, and now on the Waihomo, in Auckland, speaking of tho barquentine Daniol, said: "She is now at Newcastle, and lias been fixed l to load a cargo there lor Timaru and Auckland. She will como to Auckland, via, Timaru, ad should get here about Ohristmas. Capta in Birch is still in charge of the sailer." ■ •MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. James Sullivan has been appointed permanent paid representative of the Fedoriated Seamen's Union of New Zealand at Napier. A paid representative is also to ho appointed at Lyttelton shortly | Mr. L. W. Lane, second mate on the Kowhai, signed off yesterday, and was replaced by Mr. J. D. Bell, late third mate of the Kaiapoi. Mr. W. Ki(ld, fourth engineer on the Monowai, signed off yesterday, and was replaced by Mr. F. Furneaux. Oaptain Smith is now in charge of the Hurunui, and Captain Rylie, who commanded her on the last visit, is now in charge of the Hororata. Mr. Craig, chief engineer of the Kahika, has returned from holiday leave. Mr. C. B. Atkinson, late third officer of tho Taiawera, goes into camp shortly. The Union Company advise that the Kowhai has been delayed, and does not now leave for New Plymouth until noon tomorrow. - Tho ICoutunui is due here to-day from the East Coast with a cargo of wool. Sho leaves for Tcrakohe to-day. The Ripple is, according to advice received from Johnston and Co., due today from Napier, and will load cargo for Nanjer, Gisborne. and Akitio to-day and to-morrow. An endeavour will be made to dispatch the vessel for those ports at noon to-morrow, and it is hoped that she will arrive hack in time to leave on her usual time-table, getting away, on Tuesday and back on Sunday.

The Defender has been delayed in port, and now leaves for Picton and Hokitika at 3 p.m. to-day. '

On account of her long trip up from Lyttelton owing to had weather yesterday, the Himitangi does not now leave for the Chatham Islands until noon today.

Owing to a flood in the river at Westport yesterday some doubt existed as .to whether the Kini would sail for Wellington before to-day. She is due on Friday. Tho Kara is expected to leavo Westport to-day with a load of timber for Wellington. She is due here on Friday. The report for the month of October issued by the Westport Harbour Board shows that during the month the output of coal amounted altogether to 59,249 tons and tho exports to £6,338 tons 2cwt. Of this amount, 7353 tons were shipped to foreign ports. The export of timber amounted to 155.428 superficial feet. During the month 68 steamers and one sailer, representing 37,260 tons, entered the port] and 67 steamers nnd one sailer, representing -35,745 tons, left the port, making a total tonnage for the month of 73,005.
