The rev. chairman stated that the conference had been convened to place before the members of tho federation certain proposals for the establishment of study clubs in each parish, so that members might be well informed upon the Catholic attitude concerning social questions of the day. The work of tho Catholic Social Guild of England was fully explained, and it was felt' that somo such organisation was necessary in New Zealand, so that the Catholic laity might be in a position to meet and discuss those and other mailers concerning the future .of tho Church and the federation, and may be encouraged to convey tho information so obtained to their fellow-Catholics. Tho federation was not launching out into any new scheme; all it desired to do was to direct the consideration of these matters to a common end. Tho Itev. Father Hnrley conoludcd by urging tho federation committees in every parish to take up this question, and to establish a study club within tho parish committee. An interesting discussion took place in which Messrs.
