- , SKIJ?' AND HIDE SALES. Tito fortnightly sales of sitins and hides were held yostcrday by the various brokers:— Messrs. Dalget.y and Co. report, a largo and representative attendance of buyers, and that fill classes of produce were keenly competed lor. Sheepskins advanced id., to id. per lb., and oddments of wool sold at increased rates. "For hides and tallow prices were well maintained. Messrs. Levin :md Co. report that the only wool offered was a few odd fadges. Wool is being held for the next sale on October 33. Sheepskins showed a general advance of id. to id. Hides and calfskins were unchanged. Tallow was firm. Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co. submitted a catalogue of <000 sheepskins, 400 hides in addition to oddments of tallow, etc.. Competition was strong for all produco offered. Prices for sheepskins hardened to the extent of a halfpenny per lb., while hides fully maintained last sale's 1 high figures: Tallow was firm, and satisfactory prices were realised ,for the few lots of wool offered. Tho Tfo\y Zealand Loan amd Mercantile Agency. Co., Ltd., report' that tliey submitted a small catalogue of ban wool and fail' quantities of skins, hides, calfskins, and tallow. There was keen demand for skins at 3d. to. id. por lb. advance on last sales. Bides also were wanted, and, advanced one-eighth of a penny. Tallow was ■about 6d. to Is. per.cwt. ,-higher than recent sale's. The New Zealand . Farmers' Co-op. Distributing Co., .Ltd., report'keen competition on most lots.. with. tho result that priccs were firm, coritpared with tho saloi a fortnight ago. The offering of wool was by'no means attractive, the better '■qualities of crutchings being kept out of tho sale in view, of the poor demand for these during tho, last few weck6. Dead wool, however, was well competed for. and sold up to Is. per lb. Practically all kinds of sheepskins show » a hardening tendency, super and medium crossbred realising as high as ISJd. Pelts also sold well. The change, if any. in hides is in favour of sellers. Calfskins were in good . demand at- slightly higher rates than at last sale. Messrs. Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report that competition was very keen for all lots offering. ' Included in the cataloguo were 6omc 70 bales of, medium to inferior crutchings. held over from last sale, which were keenly sort after;- and the firm managed to sell practically cvory bale iat a decided advance on last sale's rates.- ' Skins. wero 3d. to Sd. dearer, compared with last sale.
