MISS KATHERINE GOODSON
A' NEW ZEALAND. .Paragraphs have appeared in the New Zealand papers. recording tho presenco hero of Mrs. Arthur Ilinton, an accomplished pianist, but wo arc indebted to a correspondent for pointing out that Mrs. Hinton is none other: than Miss Katherino Goodsou, who is recognised as ono of tho greatest lady pianists of the day, and whoso status in tho Old Country and throughout America is of the highest. In addition to being a brilliant , exponent of the pianoforte, Miss Goodson may be counted among tlio intellectuals in regard to tho literaturo of music, and her own illuminating articles on famous compositions in American journals have been instrumental in teaching student's to realise their inner meaning— tho depth of their poetry, romance, reverence, and dramaticism.
Miss Katherino Goodson underwent a long course of study at the Royal Academy in London, under Oscar Berfnger, after which sho went to Vienna, wliere she studied for four years under that prince of piano pedagogues, Theodore Eeschetisky. In 1897 sho made her debut in, London with huge success, and since then her tours of Europe and America have been marked by such success as falls to but tho pre-eminent few. Some fivo or six years ago, Messrs. J. and N. Tail; negotiated with Miss Gooilsou to tour Australasia, and actually announced that slio was coming, but for some unknown reason tho tour never materialised.
