TRIAL MATCHES FOR LADIES TOURNAMENT
11l view of the annual hockey tour- ] namont, to take place in Ohristchurch, i starting on September -9, a trial game I was played at Karon between AVellington A and B teams on Saturday. Tho giound was in good condition and somo excellent play was witnessed. The A team proved superior to 13 team in all-, round play. Some of the individual players who attracted attention were: —A team: Miss M'Kenzie, right wing; Miss Mauder, inside whig; Miss AVilliams, bully; Miss Wallace, half-back; and Miss M'Kenzie, full back. In B team: Miss George', bully; Miss Pickering, left inside; Miss V. M'lnemey, half; and Miss Tracey.left wing. The goal-keepers, Miss Skinner (B team) and Miss Gallagher (A team) played well, as also did Miss Geddis, who played in both teams. In tho first spell, Miss Mander scored for A team. At half-time a change was made in the teams. Miss Geddis went from tho A's to the B's, and both goal-keeper's ohanged.' The formation in A team was also altered. In the opening of the second half Miss Mander scored, making the only one for B team. Some excellent play was done by A team, who Eoon got into their stride, and from passes she received and runs of her own, Miss Williams scored four times. Good centres were secured by the Misses M'Kenzie, Dick and Israel. Messrs. Murphy and Manning refereed. Tho following representative teams will play another trial match on Saturday:—

JUNIORS. Wclllihatou Girls' College v.Te Aro School.—This was a real good game from start to finish, and ended hi a draw, oach side scoring 1 goal. Te' Aro had a little the'better of the play; poor shooting;, .however, was their weak point. Miss Olsen scored for Te Aro, and Miss .T. Grant scored for Girls' Colle<rc. Mr. Perrin was'referee. Technical Collego v. Ramblers.—College won by. 3 goals to nil. No score was made in the first spoil. 'Mr. Sherwood, was referee.
MEN'S ASSOCIATION.. Hutt Valley v. Y.M.C.A.—This was a well-fought game. Hutt Valley had the better of the play throughout, winning by 6 goals to'nil. In the first spell, Fraser and M'Caw, and in the second spell Smith (3) and .M'Caw (1) were the scorers for Hutt Valley.' Mr. Lloyd was referee. Karori v. University.—Both teams took the field short, mustering seven men each only. Karori had an easy wm by 9 goals to 3. In the first spell Sunley(4) and Kilmister (1)' scored Karori, while Meehan scored for University. In the second spell Kilmister (2), Cooper and Sunley scored one each for Karori. Meehan and Wylio ono each for University. Mr. Perrin was referee.
