The scaling season is now fairly in swing (states a Bluff correspondent), and parties are dotted all over the vatious rookeries, with tins' exception of tho Solanders. Tho s.s ltita will iJUt a party on shore there this yycek. The brigantino Kachel Cohen landed a party at the Auckland Islands, under Mr. M. Topi three weeks ago, and there is another party at tho JUacquarics tinder Mr. 0. Bauor. Tho schooner Gisborno recently visited the West Coast Sounds, and 'left a party on Five Finger llookery, where they bagged twenty-seven seals in ono day. Old hands aro, however, more interested in tho- prospects of Spencer's party on tho Snares, whore the Rita last week landed thorn. On their first day they obtained no fewer than lifty-cight skins, and they should do well. On the wholo there' is more interest being taken in -this old-time industry this year thvm for a couplo of decados. The nigh prices of skins-is a big factor, and there has been an increased demand for sealskin goods since the South Seas Exploitation Company took a hand in tli'o business.
