FIRE AT THAMES
OUTBREAK IN THK POWERHOUSE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Thames, August 25. A serious fire occurred' at 8.30 last night in the electric power-house, the interior being damaged. The town was plunged in darkness. It is supposed the outbreak occurred through spontaneous combustion of the apparatus wanning the petroleum supply of tho Diesel engine which generates the electricity. The brigade worked well, and the fire, was soon under control. Tho building, which is of brick, was little damaged, and the machinery was unharmed. Light was restored to the houses before midnight. The insurances are: Building. £1000 in tho State office; contents. &65U0 in the South British. Not much loss v ill be sustained. i
