MEETING 01'" THE COUNCIL.

A meeting of tho Victoria College Council was held last night. .There wero present Mr. Clement Watson (chairman), Messrs. W'. Ferguson, W. S. La Trobe, R. A. WrifiM, T. R- Fleming, Dr. C. Prendorgast Knight, 1 rofessors, Rankino Brown and J. M. E. Gnrrow.

Tlio report of tho sub-committee appointed to consider tho question of library accommodation was. received. Tho committee had oome to the conclusion that the present was not an opportune time to contemplate an extension of tho library, especially in view of tho fact that emergency accommodation in the meantime could be provided. Professor Brown pointed out that the library was growing very fast, and that in two years the council would be faced with a problem of no little difficulty to find place for it. Ho therefore hoped that the council would before long consider seriously the extension of the library. Members of the committee said that the work now being imdortakeu would finally be part of a bigsrer scheme, and Mr. Ferguson suggested that bel'oro the bigger scheme was necessary the oouncil might l>o provided with £15,000 to build a new library,

Recommendations of the Professorial Board for amendments to the Terms Regulations of the College wero adopted.

It was decided that a joint committee be set up, consisting of two members each from the council, the Professorial Board, tho Court of Convocation, and tho Students' Association, to consider tlio questions raised by Mr. Von Haast's_ notice of motion to tho Senate, and that the chairman and Mr. Evans be tho representa'aves of the council. Mr. Von Haast's motion proposes that a roll of honour of all professors, graduates, and undergraduates of''tho University of New Zealand wlio have taken part in tlio war, shall ho compiled, and that a schome for its publication be submitted to the next meeting of tho Senate.
