STATEMENT IN THE BRITISH
PARLIAMENT

London, August 15. In the House of Lords, the Marquis of_ Crewe said that since Germany promised America not to sink ships without warning, four British ami three neutral vessels, and altogether fortysis lives, had been lost. This was a clear violation of the undertaking. There ivere other cases where a breach of the undertaking was highly probable, but of which there was not definite proof. Tho Marquis of Crowe said that when the Allies decided how to deal with the situation the Government would make a declaration of _policy. He feared that threats to punish individuals, or by confiscating German slips and money, would not persuade the Gorman Government to desist from its practice of illegally . sinking international vessels. TWO NEUTRAL VESSELS TORPEDOED Australian-Sew Zealand Cable Association. Copenhagen, August 10. The Germanskfired oil the Swedish ship Pepita, with a cargo of sleepers for Sunderland. The Danish steamer Ivar was sunk by a submarine. Tho crew wero rescued. The San Sebastian, a Spanish veiscl, was sunk by a submarine in the Mediterranean. SWEDISH STEAMER BOMBARDED BY ZEPPELIN Copenhagen, August 15. A Zeppelin bombarded the Swedish steamer Norland, from Middlesborough. Tho bombs fell closo to the ship, doing littlo damage. _ British destroyers chased the airship, firing heavily. THREAT OF WANTON MURDER BY ZEPPELINS. New York, August 15. A Berlin wireless message states: — "In conscquenco of the Baralong case, tho Zeppelins in future will not stow consideration for the lives of civilians. In every raid England shall remember the Baralong. Our airships will show we are able to mako reprisals for theso cruelties."
