HEALTH AT TRENTHAM
THE PRESENT POSITION.
Tho liealth, of Trentham Camp, ao CofKsg to the latest advice, is good. TTic Ifealth-bulletin issued ath noon yesterday by the Principal Medical Officer at Trentham (Colonel Andrews) reads:—
"Ono more suspicious case cerebrospinal meningitis. The other cases progressing favourably. Diphtheria case miicH improved. No fresh eases. Pneumonia case much the same."
General Henderson states that the Minister of Defence (Hon. Jas. Allen) has sanctioned the erection of a forty-eight-bed infectious diseases hospital. Plans have been submitted and approved, and the erection of one ward, on land newly acquired by the Government,, is to "Be undertaken immediately. A sum of £2250 lias been authorised for the construction of tlia building, which will "be added to if the occasion arises. The first ward is expected to be ready for occupation by October. STATEMENT BY HON. J. ALLEN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, August 16. The Hon. J. Allen states that the bulk of the men wore removed from Trentham Camp on Sunday to Tauherenikau. Surgeon-General Henderson and. Colonel Valintine inspected the camp at Tauherenikau and found everything excellent, and the men healthy oxcept for a few cases of colds and three mild cases of measles. Surgeon-General Henderson reports that things at Trentham are now quite favourable. _________
