TRIAL OF RUA
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, July 28. Counsel for the defence in tho ■' Rua trial continued his address to-day, and had not concluded when the' Court adjourned. Criticising the armed, party which went to Maungnpohatu, counsel said the men wore not trained 'to the use of arms. There-was no plan and no discussion of possibilities which might arise. The men were not told to wait for orders, everyone being his owii general. If there had been any intention to kill tho police, the Maoris could, said counsel, easily have captured or killed tho Whakatane and Gisborne police, who arrived first. Instead, the officers were shown every courtesy.
