Also, many men had gone to the front, and would lose their right to rote if the elections were held without postponement. Mr R. Fletcher* supported th« pro"wfiL to P rotest - The statement of a •£100,01)0 saving was much too high an estimate. The war was being made an excuso for all sorts of things. Mr C. W. Jones: At the beginning of the war it was tho proud boast of the British Empire: "Business as usual!" I. don t see why it should not bo so. Wo can send our men to the front and assist the funds, and yet. conduct our business. It is going 'too far to suggest putting everything off on account of tho war. Even if wo have a big war on hand, wo can go. on with our work. The motion was carried by 6evcn votes to six.
