By Telegraph—Press Association. 7. Auckland, July 20. The Eua trial was advanced a further stage, to-day, when the last 'witness was heard and Mr Lundon commenced his address to the jury. Counsel said, inter alia, that despite what had been said to the effect that Kim had made a misuse of liquor and that ho had demoralised his people, there were no signs to bear out the statement. Tlis Natives who appeared in court were fine specimens of a worthy race. If Tina hail deluded his people and had obtained ■ money from them on false pretences, was it any credit to the police or fo the Justice Department th.xt proceedings' had not been taken against him under Irhat head. Eeferring lo the wives of Eua, Mr. Lmiilon said it did not concern the jury whether accused had nine or 1)0 wives.
Counsel will continue his address tomorrow.
