(To the Editor.) Sir,—As a constant reader of your paper. I have been much interested and edified by the discussion in Parliament, mid in your own columns, 011 tho subject of six o'clock closing of tho hotels. 1 gather that in the places where earl.v closing has been tried—Adelaide for 0110 -drinking increases ;to a shocking extent. Also, that if it came ■ into force hnre the hotels must lie highly compensated for the terrible lass of trade that wuuld result. Even if "slioutirig" could bo, forbidden, ■ the hotelkeepers would lose'so much custom that (hoy must-bo compensated for that too. Also, that in the event of six o'clock closing coming in, so many hotel employees would be thrown out of work tnat it' would bo an ndd»d disaster. Bill we..must bear, clearly, in mind the appalling increaso ill drinking, wliere tho early closing has oopn cried.—etc.,'
