SUNDAY GOLF
TO BE OR NOT TO BE? . The City Council appears to be in a bit of a quandary as to how it is to deal with the question of. Sunday golf on the Municipal L<uks. At the meeting before last it was decidcd that the council's ofbe instructed to take action against persons playing golf on Sunday on tho city links at berhampore, but on looking into the by-law doubts were expressed as to whether Such action, if taKen, would be successful at law. In the meantime piay proceeds on tho links, some of the players having dccided to accept service of a summons if the same is issued. The question was to have been discu&sed at the last council meeting, but there was not a quorum present when the occasion occurred for a discussion on tho vexed, question. The Mayor, who is frankly opposed to Sunday gulf on the links, takes a broad view of the question, and practically says that it is a .matter for one's conscience and ■ principles, lint he believes that there should be a straight-out vote on the question as to whether the council should authorise the drafting of a by-law to meet the present unsatisfactory position.
