CONCILIATION COUNCIL $ — AERATED WATER TRADE. A complete agreement was arrived at yesterday in the aerated water , employees' dispute, which was before the Conciliation Council. Mr. J. R. Triggs, oi Christchurch, presided, and Mr. W. A. Grenfell was agent on behalf of tho employers, and Mr. l'\ Com well on behalf of the employees. Tho employees' assessors were Messrs. A. M. Lewis, E. Gallichan, and A. G. Saunders, and thoso for the . employees Messrs. W. O'Riley, G. M'Arthur, and G. West. Tho employers suggested, tho following wages, tho men's demands being, given in parentheses: Cordial makers .S3 (£i), machine bottlers £i 10s. (;£3 155.); other workers—first three months -£2 25., second three months X 2 3si, after that X 2 8-!. (,£3 'ss. all round). There was a long discussion on wages and hours which wero the principal points in dispute. In tho agreement arrived .at the hours were fixed at 48 per week from November 1 to March 31, and 11 from April 1 to October 31, the hours io bo SO regulated that tho week finishes at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Cordial-makers were granted .£3; machinery bottlers, £2 135.; general hands, .62 ss. first two months, .£2 Bs. second two months, JC2 12s. thereafter. A clause was inserted to tho effect that the wages ot any employee obtaining moro than the minimum should not be reduced. The term of the agreement is from August 1, 1916, to August 1, 1917.
