Mr. Massey stated that he could not say whether, the proposal would bo acceptable to the Imperial authorities, but ho promised to communicate witli tlie latter on tlie subject. The following, committee was appointed to continue the negotiations:— Messrs. Powdrell (Taranaki), Wi6o (Wairarapa), Jewell (Manawatu), Allen (Cambridge), and Pacey, the' last-named being tha nominee of South Island companies.
