FORTNIGHTLY MEETING, The Mayor (.Mr. J. V. Luke), Councillors W. HildTeth, AW H. P. Barber, G. Frost, James Godbcr, John Hutcheson, T. Biish,' W'. J. Thompson, A. E. Atkinson, 11. F. Luckie/W. H. Bennett, 11. A. Wright wero present at the ordinary meeting ot the City Council held last evening. The following recommendations of the Financo and Properly Committee were adopted :— "That the council agree to accept a dedication of a strip of land between Queen's Drive- and Sutherland Hoiul for a convenient public access, and that the City Engineer be authorised to form a track and erect steps at a cost estimated roughly at JCSO, "That the owners of Little Buller Street bo called upon to pave the street and make provision for the disposal ot storm water in accordance with a. specification to be propared by the City Engineer." "That the offer made by Mr. W. Tonks for the sale of an area of land at Sutherland Road to enable an access to bo formed between Rodrigo and Sutherland lioads, be accepted ao recommended by the City Valuer, and that the City Engineer be authorised to construct thcoonnoction as soon as convenient." The following recommendations of the Reserves Committee were agreed to:— "That the suggestion made by a citizen that the cannon on Mount Victoria be removed to a position adjoining ■ the Queen's statue in Kent Terrace, bo not adopted." "That they. he granted authority to enforce the .conditions of the Town Belt leases where, in certain cases, tho l&ssoos have, neglected to grub the gorse and repair the fences." "That tenders bo called for the erection of a concrete base fence at the Basin Reserve, together -with tho necessary gales, in accordance with the modilied scheme already approved."
