4 "MOTHER GOOSE" PANTOMIME TO-NIGHT. An entirely new edition of "Mother Goose," and one that lias not been seen hero previously, will bo presented by J. C. Williamson, Ltd., in-pantomime form at the Grand Opera House this evening at 7.45. It is understood that this pantomime is nn entirely' new and original conception i'rom end to end. A number of world's pantomime artists will appear, including live principals from the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Miss Lilian de Vonny is tho new principal boy. Miss Maud Pane the new principal girl. Mr. Arthur Stigaut will appear .is Mother Goose, and Mr. Albert b'elino, who has played tho Golden Goose upwards of a thousand times, will pluy it again. A new eccentric comediau is promised in ' Mr. Victor Kelly,' Mr. Arthur Reynolds niay be expected to give a new kind of "Baron," and Mr. Billy lo Brun a novel description of Horse. The. display of wealth in the Halt of Gold, with' every sovereign lit by nn electric lamp, with gold, silver, copper, and Australian note ballets is, as described, beyond the wildest loan operations of a State treasurer in war time. There is a wonderful swing scone, with girls swinging out from the stage to the auditorium, an Australian bush scene with a ballet of national [lowers, a boy scout demonstration, a hunting scene with novel colour effect, and a dozen other spectacular features. There aro many new songs to catch the fancy. The Boss and Palls extraordinary acrobatic display,. tho boy soldiers and toy maids ballet, the storm-tossed ship, and the triumphant march of tho Allies, are notable features of this pantomime. Tho- orchestra will be under the direction of Mr. Robert Koors, the management of the stago -being in the hands of Mr..J. C. Whitfield. The box plans for the nine' nights' season are open at tho Bristol. Tho first matinee will be given on Saturday. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Mr. Victor Prince and his capable company of revuo artists head the bill this week at His Majesty's Theatre. They stage a farce-cornedy entitled "Full Steam Ahead," in whieh Mr. Princo plays the leading role, and is ably assisted by' Mr. Zoli and Miss Colenso. La Franco Brothers, head-balancers of no mean order, appeared again last evening, after an absence of some months. One of tho performers showed himself to be as much at home on his head as on his feet, performing tricks that require extraordinary skill. Other good turns on the current week's programme aro given by Tier, and Boss, Rosina Palmerston, and a troupe, of trained dogs under the control of Mr. Burt. THE KING'S. A highly artistic society play holds pride of place on the programme at the King's Theatre this week, and crowded houses have been the rule. The picture, which is an Incc-Triangle play, tells a powerful, story of American society life, in which the wife of a brilliant lawyer is saved from a false step by a burglar. Mary Boland, who plays the leading part, is an accomplished actress. Frank Mills as the lawyer, and Witlard Mack as the ''crook," who turns preacher, are excellent in their parts. The supporting films include a special topical subject showing the landing of the Russians in France, and various other items. EVERYBODY'S'THEATRE. - Another production.by-the Triangle Kay-Bee Company of picture players, entitled' "The Fighting Parion," is being screened at Everybody's Theatre this week, and is said' to be ono of the. best, shown here for some'- considerable tirae. William S. Hart'-plays the leading' rolo in this' high-power' Western drama, where-he preaches -his. sermons -with a Bible.in one hand and,a. revolver in the other. He manages "to obtain riches and fame, but i< unablo to command'love, while the struggling, artist, whose works were stolen to make fame for a hypocrite, is endowed with the love of those ho loves, and happiness is his lot. 'The supporting programme has several attractive subjects. -•',.,•' THE DANDIES. • Another big audience greeted that merry little company of artists, the.Pink Dandiqs, at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last evening.- ' Mr'.- Joseph Breunan, the comedian of the company, Kept tho audience in high humour with his quaint- way of saying' .'and' doing things.;; Mr. Ford Walthanr sang well and mado merry, while Miss Ida Newton mada u.lot more friends with her brightness. Mr. Lawrence has. a fine full voice, which he used to'advantage. The other members of the little baud all contributed bright and entertaining numbers. The ensemble items of the company produced much mirth. "WITH OUR BOYS IN EGYPT." '. .'. Particular interest attaches to one of the films' which.is to be shown in the Town Hull on Friday evening next. It is the first kinema film that has ever been, taken-within the Canal zone. Special permission had to be obtained -from the Commander-in-Chief (Sir Archibald Murray). Through'the intervention of Mr. R. M'Callum, M.P. for Wairau, who. was in Egypt at the time; permission was given, to have a moving picture taken of the final leave-taking of Sir. Alexander Godley with the" men of the, new Second - Infantry .Brigade, 'also of scenes round about the immediate vicinity of the New Zealanders' camp, but only on condition that it should not be exhibited either in private or public within two months. This time expired on Juno S. Mr. George was tho only civilian New Zealander on the platform at Is.iailia when the men entrained, and he secured several snapshots of thein just before moving off to Alexandria. Amongst other pictures that, will be shown will ho that of the new' Anzac Hostel, opened for the Australian aiid New Zealand soldiers in Cairo. A' collection will be taken at the gathering in aid of Navy widows and orphans. ■ The Mayor will preside. -.
