HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL

A meeting of the Hutt County Council was.held yesterday morning, at which Mr. M. W. AVelcli presided, Mr. J. W. Cudby, Inspector of Works, reported that the principal work in haml was'preparing metal and metalling roads in several of tho ridings. Also that the l'ahautanui bridge at the village required to be redeckod as soon as possible. It was decided to advise all employees of tho council that tho war bonus which had been granted as from May 9 last would be entered on the pay-sheet after next week. A . motion to give all lower paid employees in tho office an. increase in salary during the war, as from June 1, was carried. Councillors Welch, Galloway, ■ and Howell were appointed lo attend a meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council as delegates to a further- conference on hospital and charitable aid levies. Accounts toialling JJI-JO7 Bs. 2d. were passed for payment.
