18th REINFORCEMENTS
HOW RECRUITING IS PROGRESSING. The position generally throughout the Dominion with respect to recruiting for the 18tli Reinforcements, due to mobilise during tile last week of this month, is, according to the Recruiting Board, very satisfactory. The official figures of the registrations for the Infantry as at date of Friday, last, all other arms of. tlie service being full, are as follows:— Group No. 1, Auckland City, surplus 122j Group No. 2. Paeroa, shortage SO; Group No. 3, Wliangarei, shortage 40; Group No. 4, Hamilton, shortage 16. Total surplus for Auckland military district, 16. ' Group No. 5, Wellington City, surplus 8: Gronp No. 6, Palmerston North, surplus 2; Group No. 7, Napier, shortage fi7; Group No. 7a, Masterton, surplus 20; Group No. 8, Hawera,' shortage 31. .Total nliortarn for Wellington military district, GS. ' Group No. 9, Christchurch City, shortage 43; Group No. 10, Timaru, surplus 47; Group No. 11, Kaiapoi. surplus 8; Group 11a, Greymouth, shortago 23: Group No. 12, Nelson, sun>lusl3. There was existing at the same date a shortage on previous and owing to wastage in camp o" ,88, or a total shortage of 100 under nil heads, and over a fortnight in which to make up this leeway.
AUCKLAND'S POSITION. . By Telegraph—Press Ass relation. Auckland, Juno 12. During, the period from the outbreak of vrar to May 31 last, & total of 23,162 men registered, for service in the Auckland Military District. Of these 16,961 passed as fit, and 15.252 have been sent to camps.
