DARING EXPLOITS IN NO MAN'S LAND
TRENCH RAIDS ON THE WESTERN BATTLE-FRONT By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright (Rec. June 13, 8.20 p.m.) London, June 13. Correspondents state that there has been a noticeable increaso in trenchraiding exploits, which are becoming a feature of trench warfare. There havo been many instances of remarkablo initiative and gallantry, -amongst officers and men, who go adventuring into tho No-Man's Land between the opposing trenches, the enemy thereby being kept in a continual state of'uneasiness, and suffering also heavy casualties. One night five separate raids were organised. In ono case the assaulting party bombed eighty yards of trench, killing twenty. Another at Neuve' Chapelle killed a largo number of Germans. The Anaacs, who have been learning trench warfare as conducted in tho West, havo showed their usual qualities of enterprise and initiative. There are comparatively few German raiils; several have failed utterly, tho Germans leaving prisoners and a number of dead behind them. These raiding exploits have broken the old monotony of trench warfare, 'aii<T given a new and fiercer character to the struggle.
