GERMANS IN LONDON
THEIR'OPINION ON THE WAR. By Telegraph-Press Association.-Coipjrriglit ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) London, June 12. The "Weekly publishes an article concerning the opinion of Germans in London on the war by a. miter sympathetic to the Allies. He points out that the war will bo of no benefit to tho Germans who were-doing well in London before the war. "There has been a tremendous change in English opinion. Once the most tol-; erant people on earth, they are now the most intolerant. Regarding us, it is hard luck. Wo are tlie victims of German militarism, but hopo it will end quickly. But we have no illusions. The more desperate Germany's position the moTe desperately they will fight. I have heard there is an idea that the Allies will not drive tho Germans out of Belgium, because they might totally destroy tho country as they letr'cd. This would not surprise me at all. Tho prophecies of a German revolution are rubbish. The German people are too disciplined to revolt.. No thinking German in London puts his trust in peace talk. Peace will onbr oome when one side is exhausted. Though tho Allies are growing stronger daily, there is 110 reason to.believe that Germany is yet exhausted. The official attitude of Germany is that tho Allies will show no mercy, and it will pay to leave England and France as weak as possible, as Germany believes their power of recovery is twice as great. England is regarded, more than ever as the principal enemy. No doubt Germany is prepared to make handsome concessions to Prance in order to be able to settle with England alone. On the other hand, thero is no war-weariness'in England. All conversations are about the great offensive. I am afraid that .it will require half a dozen offensives and a lot more bloodshed before the sounds of the guns cease."
