ROSE AND CARNATION CLUB
The annual leport of the Wellington Rose and Carnation Club discloses a sound financial position. The committee considers there is every cause for satisfaction at the condition of affairs, and at the,club's prospects. As the result of tile Spring Show, a sum of vS37 Ills. (id. was handed over to the Mayor's I'und for Wounded Soldier?, which, together with the amount contributed tor the previous season, makes a total contributed by the club towards that fund of J!2OG 13s. lid. further, a sum of .£3.1 19s. was realised, to be devoted to tho purchase of rose plants to further beautify the rosery at Newtown l J ark Zoo. It is hoped the Reserves Committee of the Wellington City Council will be in a position to carry out the proposed extension of the rosery, and that the-commit-tee may be enabled to expend the money in the manner indicated during the coming season. ■
The club'has a credit balance of 7£2S 9s. Bd., after allowing for the liability of J;35 19s. During the year thero was an addition of syc new members,- the total membership now standing at 180.
