APPEAL ON BEHALF OF THE PRISONERS MR. ASQUITH REPLIES TO A QUESTION By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright London, June 1. - In the House of Commons, Mr. John Dillon (.Nationalist) appealed to the Government for magnanimous treatment for the Irish prisoners. , Mr. Asquith (Prime Minister) said that the Government's policy was to use all leniency and clemency compatible with the vindication of the law and the pre> vention of a recurrence of tho outbreak, About 800 prisoners had been already dis, charged, and prisoners were given power of appeal to an Advisory Committee, ta which, the Government was adding two Irish members.
