WHARF LABOUR
NEW PLACES OF ENGAGEMENT. „ The chairman of th<s Harbour Board. (Mr. C. E. Daniell) reported to last evening s meeting that places for the engagement of casual wharf labour had been arranged (as from May 22) between the various parties to the, agreement of March IG, 1916. The places .arranged are as follow Coal '.men, south end of Customs Buildings; Sh<i\v, Savill, and Albion Company, Gannaway and Comand G. H. Scales, Ltd., north end of "X" Store; N.Z. Shipping Company, Ltd., and Defence Department, middle of "X" Store; Parker, Ltd., and all coastal companies' ship-workers, 6outh end of "X" Store; Union S.S. Company, Ltd., cargo-workers, north end of "W" Shed. ' 1 Stands'are erected, and foremen are to engage from tlioso stands. After 8.30 a.m., before making, an engagement., foremen are to telephone the Waterside Labour Employment Association's office, stating class of labour.to bo engaged, and that office will have bells rung to summon men to. stand 'where kbour is to be put on. No engagement to be made until five minutes after giving notice to the above office.
