DAYLIGHT-SAVING MEANS MONEY-SAVING

Mr. Samuel added that if the daylight resolution were approved he-hoped that the Bill would he passed this week. It would bo restricted? to the duration of the war, and would not apply to Ireland. He estimated that advancing the clock by one hour would effect ttu annual saving throughout the country of 21 millions in lighting alone. Mr. G. N. .Eirncs (Labour) supported tho measure ns one of practical utility ajul war economy. In response to Sir Frederick Banbury's and Lord Hugh Cecil's criticisms, Mr. Herbert Samuel stated that tho Government considered that the proposal was essentially advantageous for war purposes. The coal supply was giving great .eoncorn, and the * Allies needed largely-in-creased quantities. /
