ENGLISH RACING ONE THOUSAND GUINEAS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, May 5. Tho following is the, result of the— ONE THOUSAND GUINEAS. For three-year-old fillies. Weight, 9st. each. Lord Derby's b. f. Canyon, by Chaucer —Glasalt ,: : 1 Mr. E. Hulton's ch'. f. Fifinelia, by Polymelns—Silver Fowl 2 Halarnande ... „ 3 Canyon's victory would be extremely popular at the present juncturo in English affairs. Lord Derby has apparently obtained something very smart in the daughter of Chaucer, for as a two-year-old last season she won throe times and was second twice in six starts. She opened her account by annexing a maiden two-year-old raco, and then- she won the Bedford Two-year-old Stakes, of 646 sovs. at tho.'Newmarket May.meeting. She was 6econd in the Sixty-eighth Triennial Stakes, carrying a 101b. penalty, to Molga, on whom she turned the tables at level weights the next time they met in the Bretbury Stakes, of 1300 sovs. In her last outing Canyon was beaten a head by tho favourite, Atheling, in tho Dewhurst Plate.
