General Sir Percy Lake reports on May 3 the Turks sent out parties to bury the dead at Beitailsa, on tho right bank of the Tigris, for which mutual arrangements were made, as fighting in the vicinity had been almost continuous Bince April 17.

General Joffre has sent a message to Sir Percy Lake, conveying his admiration for the heroic defence of Kut and the brilliant efforts of the relief column. Sir Percy Lake, in thanking Genera] Jcffre, paid a tribute to the French' breaking the Gorman efforts at Verdun.
