PATRIOTIC TOURNAMENT. Tho Patriotic Lawn Tennis Tournament, commenced in "Wellington some weeks ago, was advanced'a further stage at the Brougham Hill courts on Saturday afternoon. Principal progress was made in tlio ladies' championship doubles, in which. tlio semi-finals were decided. The final of this contest will probably be played on the Kelburn Club's courts -during tlio present week, llesiilts to date arc. as follow:— Men's Championship Singles.—Franco defeated Lees, 6—5, 6 —3; Leicester defeated Young, G —2, 6—5. Ladies' Championship Singles.—Mrs. defeated Mrs. Norris, 9 —7; Miss Davis defeated Mrs. Howe, 9—l. Ladies' Championship Doubles.—Mosdames Breo and Hoiideron defeated Miss Kobinson and Mrs. Bell, 9 —5. Semifinals: Miss Travors and Mrs. Earle defeated Misses F. and 0. Stovens, 9—7; Miss Williams and Mrs. Goldie defeated. Mesdames Breo and Henderson, 9—5. Combined Champipnsliip Doubles.— Miss ,C. Stevens and Legs defeated Miss Pliminer and Irons, 6—3, 6—3: Mrs. Bell and M. Ballantyne, defeated Mrs. Norris and France, 6—4, 6—l; Miss 0. Stovens and Lees defeated Miss E. Stevens and Roberts, 5—6, 6—3, G--3. Men's Handicap Singles.—lnstone (12) defeated G. Ballantyne (10), 60—48; Irons (4) defeated M. Ballantyne (10), 60—56; T. Ward (8) defeated Instono (12), 60—47; Irons (4) defeated Hogg (24), 60-50.
