NAIL-STUDDED GODS
A GERMAN PROFESSOR'S PROTEST By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Amsterdam, April 28. Professor IV/.aurek, a well-known figure, in Stuttgart, protests against the erection of "nailing images" in Germany. There are statues'of Hindenburg in Berlin, von Tirpitz in Wilhclmsbaven,". von ..Muller (of the Emden) in Emden,' and, ~von 1 Weddigen (tho late commander of the notorious U29) and his ship at Kiel. The doors of towa halls and churches are hammered full of memorial nails in countless places. There are huge iron crosses l upon von Hindenburg's statue, which now contains four tons of iron.

Professor Pazaurek protests against the disfigurement of public gardens and squares. - [Enormous wooden statues have been constructed and erected in prominent places, in charge of officials supplied with largo quantities of nails. Anyone paying a certain small sum is privileged to drive a nail into tho statue, whioh, when completely armoured in this way, represents a large sum of money.]
